Annual Training Information Survey (TIS)

The annual Training Information Survey—available July 1 – October 31—collects program information to ensure EM In-training Examination eligibility and that graduates meet the minimum requirements for certification.

In-Training Examination (ITE)

The ITE is administered during a seven-day testing window that begins on the last Tuesday of February. By October 31, programs must pre-register to participate in the ITE via the TIS. By early January, programs must confirm which residents will be taking the ITE and submit payment.

ABEM Certification Reports

Residency Program Graduates – ABEM Certification Reports are sent to program directors by late March. The report includes the names of physicians who graduated from your program who took the Qualifying and Oral Certification Examinations and whether they passed or failed the examination(s). The pass/fail “names” report is highly confidential and only meant for the program director.

Graduate Verification of Training

In late June or early July, program directors must review and attest to all physicians who trained in their program via their ABEM Personal Page.
