Today marks the 44th anniversary of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) becoming a Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties. ABEM was founded recognizing the need for specialized training, certification, and standards in Emergency Medicine. Over the years, ABEM certification has become a symbol of excellence in Emergency Medicine and is recognized as the gold standard for certification among emergency physicians.
Often the first line of defense in life-threatening situations, emergency physicians’ ability to act quickly and make critical decisions can mean the difference between life and death. They work tirelessly to provide care to patients at their most vulnerable times and have been instrumental in developing new treatment protocols and guidelines.
As we recognize the 44th anniversary of ABEM, we celebrate the dedication and value of the physicians achieving and maintaining ABEM certification.
