ABEM now offers Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder modules to assist physicians in meeting the DEA requirement for CME. The two learning modules are available as an added benefit to ABEM-certified physicians.

✔ Opioid Use Disorder (2 CME credits)
ABEM-certified physicians have free access to the modules if they are up to date on their annual certification fee. Low-cost CME credit for these modules can be applied toward the new DEA requirement. To use these modules to meet the DEA CME requirement, you must register for the optional CME credit when you register for the free modules. We are proud to partner with AAEM and ACEP, the CME providers for these learning modules. Fees for the CME option go directly to the CME providers.

In addition to ABEM-certified physicians, the Substance Use Disorder and Opioid Use Disorder modules are available to residents, physicians who are in the initial certification process, and those who are subspecialty certified by ABEM with primary certification by another ABMS Board. These modules will not count as part of ABEM certification requirements but are optional learning opportunities. Both modules are intended to provide pragmatic, practice-changing information that will result in improved emergency care. Even if you do not need the CME credits, the learning resources are accessible to all, and the modules are available at no cost to boost your knowledge.
