The American College of Surgeons (ACS) recently revised the criteria for trauma-related continuing medical education (CME) credits for ABEM-certified physicians working in ACS-designated trauma centers. Effective immediately, ABEM-certified physicians participating in MOC no longer need to acquire trauma-related CME credits to fulfill ACS trauma center verification requirements. This change applies only to CME requirements housed under the ACS designation. As a result, it is possible that you may have other CME requirements depending on state or local mandates. ABEM encourages you to speak with your administrator for further clarification.
